Write to Russ

Hi, Russ! My name is Ella. I just read about a girl giving bandanas to dogs in hopes of them getting adopted. I'm wondering if you have more books about kids making a difference in the world. I would especially like it If you could recommend more books like this one. I have one more question. How can I get to the messages you send back? Thanks a bunch. I appreciate you.

Hi, Russ. I'm Jon, and I wonder if you have anything about presidents?
Jon
Hey there, Jon! We've got tons of articles about presidents! Try typing that word into the Search and see what comes up! I'd suggest reading "The Presidential Debate: A U.S. History." We also have more stories coming up as we get closer to the next presidential election in the United States. That's on November 5! ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

Hi. My name is Livia, and I have a BIG question. What is the rarest animal in the world? I love animals, so Iโ€™m just wondering to see if I could research the rarest animal in the world.
Livia
Thanks for your question, Livia! I think it's great that you want to do more research! My vote would go to the vaquita porpoise. Those mammals swim in the Gulf of California, near Mexico. Vaquitas are VERY rare. Wildlife experts found fewer than 13 vaquitas during trips in 2023 and 2024. They're still looking for new ways to find and protect the animals. ๐Ÿฌ

Hi! I'm Nova, and I was wondering about the search bar you keep mentioning in the News Room. I'm on the app and I don't appear to have one? Am I supposed to or is there a website or something that has one?
Nova
Hi, Nova! There are two places you can look for the Search on the News-O-Matic app. It might be on the bottom left of your screen. Or, you can click on the three lines on the top left of your screen. That could open a menu where you can find the search. Good luck!

Are there any snakes in Iceland?
Avery
There are no snakes in Iceland, Avery! Reptiles like snakes are coldblooded and don't store fat very well on their bodies. So they can't keep warm enough in Iceland's cold temperatures. ๐Ÿโ„๏ธ
Russell Kahn
Hello, Russ. Do you respond to all the letters people write to you or just some that you hand pick and choose to respond to? Just wondering. Bye.
Kelsey
Fair question, Kelsey! I get a LOT of submissions, so I take some time every day to answer as many as I can! Though I may not be able to RESPOND to everyone, I do READ everything that News-O-Matic readers send in! โœ๏ธ

Hey, Russ. Iโ€™m Violet, and I have a question about Zelda. What is she the princess of?
Violet
That would be the kingdom of Hyrule! That fictional setting appeared in the very first Legend of Zelda game in 1986! However, some games in the series have reimagined Zelda's role in the years since. ๐Ÿ‘ธ

Is T. Rex the biggest dinosaur ever?
Tobias
The Tyrannosaurus rex may be the most POPULAR dinosaur, Tobias, but it wasn't the BIGGEST! In 2014, scientists found the skeleton of a four-legged dino with a loooong neck in Argentina. It's called a titanosaur! It stood at a height of 28 feet (8.5 m). That's the biggest dinosaur found so far! ๐Ÿฆ•
