Light travels at a certain speed, McKinley. When you turn a lamp on, it takes time for the light from the bulb to reach your eye. However, light moves VERY fast -- so it doesn't seem like it takes any time at all. Light travels 186,000 miles (300,000 km) every second! So, a light-year is a distance, not a time. A light-year is the distance that light travels in one year.

Hey, Skeez! Rainbows come from light and water. Light is made up of wavelengths that show colors. When light from the Sun hits drops of water, the water can split up those wavelengths. That separates the colors so you can see them in the form of a rainbow. Raindrops in the sky, splashes from a fountain or waterfall, or even spray from a hose can cause rainbows to form. ☀️💧🌈
