Materials
• Green yarn
• Green paper or cardstock
• White paper or cardstock
• Glue
• Scissors
• Green and black markers
• Pencil
: cardboard rectangle

Steps
1. To make your pom-pom, take the start of the yarn. Wrap the yarn 70 to 100 times around two or three fingers or a cardboard rectangle of similar size. Then, cut your wrap off from the ball of yarn.

2. Slip the wrapped yarn off of your fingers or cardboard. Cut another small strand of yarn, and tie it around the center of the wrap. This will keep the bundle together.

3. Put scissors through the loops of yarn. Cut all of the loops. Fluff out the yarn, but be careful not to pull it out of the tied piece. Trim the strands to be a similar length. This pom-pom will be the shell of the turtle.

4. Lightly trace the outline of your pom-pom onto green paper. This will be the base of the shell. Next, draw a head, arms, and legs connected to the circle to create a full turtle. Cut it out.

5. Using a green marker, add spots to the turtle’s head, arms, and legs.

6. From white paper, cut out two small circles for eyes. Use a black marker to add to the eyes. Glue them to the head.

7. Glue the pom-pom to the body of the turtle. Let it dry, and then you have your own fluffy sea turtle friend!
