Arsh Pal is a normal kid. He likes sports. He enjoys playing video games. But Arsh is also making an extraordinary difference. The 12-year-old does this with one of his other favorite hobbies — painting. Arsh helps kids in need by selling his works of art!
Arsh has been painting since he was 8 years old. Since then, he has sold hundreds of paintings and raised $16,000 dollars. He sells the paintings online and at local businesses. The young artist donates the from his sales. Arsh usually chooses charities that help kids. One is St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, which helps heal kids who have serious sicknesses. Arsh has also donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. That group grants wishes to children who are very sick.
Arsh learned to paint at home. His mom helped him. They still watch painting videos together and come up with new ideas today. “I just do painting whenever I have time,” Arsh told News-O-Matic.
Arsh started out painting landscapes. But now, is one of his favorite styles. He said that it allows him to express his emotions.
The artist also likes the challenge of painting abstract art. “Abstract is not as easy as you think,” Arsh said. “Because you need the right color combinations. It takes a lot of work.” Arsh likes taking the time to get it right though. “I don’t like working on a painting for a day and then it’s done.”
Arsh has some advice for kids who want to learn a new skill. “Limit your screen time and get yourself bored,” Arsh said. He explained that this can help you find your talents and get creative!
Arsh was inspired to help others after visiting his mom’s job. His mom works at a . Arsh said that some of the patients were sick or lonely. This made him want to make a difference.
Arsh teaches classes at the nursing home. He gives the step-by-step instructions. He helps them paint simple images like flowers and sunsets. “I just love teaching them to paint,” Arsh said. “They usually have a lot of fun.”
According to Arsh, there’s more than one way to paint the world a little brighter. “If you want to help somebody, then it really doesn’t have to be giving away money,” Arsh said. “It can be your time, your skills, and your kindness.”
