The Republicans Meet
The Democrats just had a big meeting. Now it’s time for the Republicans. The Republican National Convention begins on August 24. Top party leaders will make speeches for the event. It all leads up to President Donald Trump accepting his party’s nomination. Unlike the Democrats’ meeting, some of this event will take place in person in Charlotte, North Carolina. Officials say attendees will need to social distance and wear masks.

A Day for Dogs
Here’s something to wag your tail about. August 26 is National Dog Day! Celebrate the pups in your life. This holiday is about more than playing fetch and cuddling with a cute animal. It pushes families to give a pup a home through dog adoption!

Fighting for Gender Fairness
Women have been fighting for their rights for a long time. Women can now vote and hold jobs around the world. But in most countries, women still aren’t treated the same as men. August 26 is a day to call attention to this fact. It’s National Women’s Equality Day in the United States. We must all work together so everyone has the same opportunities.

Art Museums Reopen Doors
Three of the world’s most famous art museums are reopening to visitors in the week ahead. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City and the British Museum in London, England, will welcome visitors for the first time since mid-March. That’s happening on August 27. Then on August 29, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is set to open. That’s the largest art museum in America.

Nigeria Opens Its Borders
More people live in Nigeria than in any other African country. The nation closed its borders to flights to keep people safe. Now, officials are opening Nigeria back up. Starting August 29, flights into and out of the country will resume. The move may help Nigeria’s economy.
